Simon Fitzpatrick

Bass guitar, Chapman stick, Moog Minitaur bass

Carl Palmer's ELP Legacy

“Simon Fitzpatrick is a guy who constantly pushes himself to see what can be done on bass” Kevin Johnson (No Treble)

“I had a blast playing with my ridiculously talented band featuring Simon Fitzpatrick” Jennifer Batten (Michael Jackson, Jeff Beck)

Simon Fitzpatrick has toured and recorded with Jennifer Batten (Michael Jackson, Jeff Beck), Carl Palmer (ELP, Asia), Joe Lynn-Turner (Rainbow, Deep Purple, Yngwie Malmsteen), Kee Marcello (Europe) and Michael Hill (B.B. King) among others. Not content with simply being in the background, Simon has always tried to take bass guitar playing as far as possible. Using all six strings of his extended range instrument he performs as a lead player, a soloist or polyphonic accompanist.

His debut solo bass guitar album 'Reflections'  employed his virtuoso technique to recreate a wide variety of pieces and styles, ranging from classical to classic rock, on one single instrument. Various versions of Simon's incredible solo rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody have notched up over 100,000 Youtube hits. Further pushing the envelope, Simon's second release was his arrangement (for bass, Chapman stick and Minitaur bass) of Holst's The Planets Suite

Current live set up:

BASS GUITAR:  Sei Flamboyant 6 String

CHAPMAN STICK

MOOG MINITAUR SYNTH BASS (played from M Audio keyboard)

Interesting facts:

Simon once came second in a Monster Apple Eating competition in the USA! Meanwhile, just before going on stage in Germany, a giant ceramic rabbit fell on his Chapman stick and broke a string (the rabbit faired worse, becoming a double amputee in the process!).
