"It's absolutely wonderful. Amazing depth of harmony and melodies. Congratulations!!!!"
Simon Phillips on ''One the Edge', April 2026

"This album is simply a must-buy. It is simply pure enjoyment once again what Bainbridge presents on this excellent double album. So perhaps double the enjoyment this time! Sometimes it just doesn't get better than what you hear on On The Edge (Of What Could Be)!!!"

Henri Strik,

"I finally has a proper listen to your Magnum Opus “On The Edge (of what could be)” from start to finish straight down, and I’m just blown away. It all sounds like YOU, and I got a taste of what that was while we were on tour. The grandiose Celtic-flavored classic prog thing is so well done in your hands. But it was the sense of a double album actually having the right peaks and valleys, and coming to a climax (which it feels like it does to me anyway!) in the solo section of “Fall Away” at 12:50 that really sealed it for me. Such a great work!

“Colour Of Time” (especially the end) has that classic active movement “wow factor” that we all fell in love with on the classic prog albums, so well done.

The title track was another one that really stuck with me, just the melodic sweep of it and the hanging climax.

The interludes - the acoustic guitar on “Whispering of The Landscape” and the orchestra on “Beyond The Plans Of Earth And Time” were really beautiful. The latter really hit me for some reason.

The opening of “Farther up And Farther In” got my prog nerd hairs all standing up. Simon sounds amazing on this!

And I’m assuming that’s Sally on “When All Will Be Bright”? Beautiful.

Thank you so much for sharing this with me!"

JUNE 2ND 2025 Album & Tour News

Hi Everyone, I'm thrilled to say that my new double album 'On the Edge (of what could be)' is now mixed and being mastered this week by my good friend Nigel Palmer at Lowland Masters! The artwork is also well on the way to being completed for the CD version, so hopefully by the end of this week it will be sent to the CD pressing plant! We're hoping to have copies for at least some of the Dave and Sally UK tour. There will also be vinyl, download and streaming versions coming - so make sure you're on my mailing list to receive release and ordering info! I'm now working on the bonus disk for the limited edition Patreon version.

After an incredibly busy start to the year with tours with Colin Blunstone in the Caribbean (Rock Legends Cruise), USA (west coast), Germany and The Netherlands, and gigs with Lifesigns in the USA (east coast) and Canada (including at the Marillion Convention), I'll be back in the road in the UK in just over 3 weeks on the DAVE BAINBRIDGE & SALLY MINNEAR Summer tour (our longest to date!) and then with LIFESIGNS. I hope to see many of you at one of the gigs over the summer!

FEBRUARY 2025 ALBUM AND GIG NEWS
4th February 2024
Wow this year seems to be flying by and I can't believe we're already in February. There are loads of updates, especially on gigs, all of which are listed below in the Shows section (including more Lifesigns USA/Canada dates and the longest Dave & Sally UK tour to date). Really looking forward to seeing many of you on the road on both sides of The Atlantic in the coming months!

Thanks to those of you who voted for me in the Prog Magazine Reader's Poll Best Guitarist category. It was great to come in the top ten once again, despite no new solo or Lifesigns releases this past year. And one very satisfying statistic is that, for possibly the first time, Dave's beat Steve's 3-2 in the top ten! :)

NORTHERN ECHO LIST

I was very surprised and honoured to be included in a recent article in The Northern Echo, a major newspaper in my native town of Darlington and the North-East of England, on 'Seven of the famous Faces from and associated with Darlington'. It was great to be named alongside comic and artistic genius Jim Moir (aka Vic Reeves), whom I knew a little when I was still in Darlington. You can read the article at the link here.

ON THE EDGE (of what could be)

I've been getting on well with the mixes for track on my forthcoming 5th solo album, but there's still quite a bit to do as I've also been busy booking gigs for the Dave and Sally Summer UK tour, as well as practicing for the upcoming Colin Blunstone tour dates. However I can now tell you that 'On the Edge' is going to be released as a double album - both on cd and vinyl! With around 80 minutes of music I was agonising over what to leave out, but after a great chat with Rob Ayling from Gonzo Multimedia, he thought it would be great to include all the music, so hence the double release. I've now got a running order which I think works well and have almost finished compiling all the sleeve notes (no mean task with lyrics in Scottish and Irish Gaelic as well as English), so progress is being made and I'll be letting you know the release date very soon.

COMING UP

Lots of interesting things are coming up, including working on Dave Brons' 4th studio album mixes and recording parts for a new Celtish album. There will be more album / collaboration news very soon and some potentially very exciting tour dates in the autumn - more on this in due course!

***BTW LET ME KNOW IF YOU'D LIKE TO HOST EITHER A DAVE SOLO OR DAVE AND SALLY GIG (either side of the Atlantic), either at a venue or a house concert and we'll see if we can make it happen!
